In the spring of 1945, the RCD was the reconnaissance regiment leading the 2 nd Canadian Corps as they advanced through the Dutch province of Friesland. By April 15, after several cold and rainy days, the Dragoons had consolidated near the provincial capital, Leeuwarden.
