Hello,

Quick question for the arty guys: After DP1, do we get to pick our specialization stream (Gun line observation, STA, and air defence), or is it assigned? How much say do we have in this?

As with anything with the army the needs of the org will come first, that being said where you get posted will have the most impact on your employment. If you get posted to 1/2 RCHA, 5 RALC or the RCAS expect to start on the Gunline maybe the STA batteries if there's an opportunity. OPs will be something down the line usually they take experienced Bdrs from the gunlines. If posted to to 4 GS in Gagetown it's gonna be most likely STA with a chance of going AD.
