As an older recruit with an engineering degree and an MBA is it possible to enlist as a captain? What sort of leeway is there for rank on entry?

What occupation? There are provisions for the granting of additional IPCs on enrolment, but that would generally be at the rank of Lt at best.

Thanks for the reply. I'm considering joining as an Engineer Officer. I'm a mining engineer by training and have previous experience working with explosives. I'd be most interested in IED/EOD roles.

Sorry been busy as of late and haven't been able to jump on here.

The only officer occupations that join at a rank higher than 2Lt/Lt are Specialty Occupations such as Padre, Legal Officer, Dental Officer, Social Work Officer, Medical Officer... there may be others but those are the ones at the top of my mind - otherwise you'll come in as a 2Lt or Lt.
